About Us

Creative Cottage is owned and operated by Susanne (left) and Melody (right). We are friends, and former professionals turned stay-at-home moms that love to scrapbook.

The start of Creative Cottage came about one day while on our “girls getaway weekend” (an annual gift from our dear hubbies!). We both love scrapbooking, recalling and preserving great memories and sharing quality time with dear friends. But as moms of young children, we could not find a suitable location for our needs. As a result, we were forced to sit in a cramped, dimly lit, overpriced hotel and began to dream about opening and owning the perfect crafting retreat!!

We wanted a retreat that would create a comfortable, catered-to, and relaxed atmosphere, but the location was also key. It needed to be close enough to home… just in case. That dream became a reality when in 2007 we found our crafting paradise at the end of a country road in McKinney. “The Cottage” is close to amenities such as shopping, dining, and even the new Baylor McKinney hospital, yet far enough away to still be a country cottage retreat. In April 2007, after prayers and hard work, McKinney’s first and original scrapbooking retreat, Creative Cottage, was opened.

We are excited and eager to share our “Cottage” with others who also dream of leaving daily tasks and busy work schedules behind to enjoy quality time with friends while creating treasured heirlooms for their family.

Creative Cottage is open to all scrapbookers, quilters, stampers, crafters of all kinds, church retreats or anyone looking to get-away from it all and take in some fresh country air. Whether you are a novice or a veteran you will find ideas and inspiration from those around. And, you will return home feeling refreshed, revitalized and renewed.
